Intercultural training

Good interaction and good cooperation with people from Islamic cultures: Intercultural seminar on the Arab-Islamic world for trainers, coaches and consultants The refugee movements of recent years have brought people from the Islamic world to us. The integration of these immigrants into all areas of society remains one of Germany's major social and political challenges. The need for training is correspondingly great, because competence in dealing with people from the Islamic cultural circle is expected or even assumed everywhere. This is where the event "Intercultural seminar on the Arab-Islamic world" comes in. Intercultural and interreligious competence has become a key qualification that is indispensable for all those involved with immigrants. Social workers, teachers, sports coaches, trainers, service providers, doctors, nursing staff, employees in organizations and administrations: In all areas, there is a great need for help with understanding, increased competence and training. Whether it is in the integration of foreign colleagues in the team or in working with parents in kindergarten, sports club or school - employees in almost all professional groups have to learn to deal with the "foreign". At the same time, even trained trainers sometimes feel insecure when it comes to Islamic cultures because they do not want to pass on stereotypes. This is made even more difficult when references to the variance of culture-specific patterns of thought and action are taboo or even dismissed as racism. For this, intercultural trainers are needed who design and carry out further training specifically for dealing with people from Islamic cultures. In the multiplier training "Intercultural seminar Arab-Islamic world" you will learn the most important basics of intercultural competence in dealing with people from Islamic cultures and will receive an introduction to the methods, materials and implementation strategies of intercultural training for the Islamic cultural area. The training, which can also be attended as a build-on to the "Training to become an intercultural trainer (m/f/d) in 5 modules", will teach you the essential basics of intercultural interaction and communication with people from Islamic cultures. In addition, you will receive the essential theoretical and practical skills to pass on your new knowledge in everyday practice and in the context of intercultural training. Contents

Internationality and global cooperation: Intercultural training / Cultural awareness training

In today's work situations, people with diverse backgrounds come together - cultural diversity in teams is a daily occurrence in almost all areas. At the same time, companies and organizations operate worldwide, send specialists and managers and interact internationally at all levels.

Cultural awareness training conveys awareness of one's own backgrounds (self-assessment) and the diversity of cultures. Key action skills such as variety in communication strategies or openness to negotiation styles that are more person-oriented than matter-oriented are trained. General cultural training uncovers habits that are initially invisible and disruptive to cooperation and shows how essential knowledge of foreign cultural orientation systems is. It is the basis for any international, transcultural cooperation that is to be successful in the long term.

Stereotyping and the teaching of dos and don'ts, which are not helpful in the long term, have no place in our training - because only basic transcultural skills make future-oriented, stable, functioning international cooperation possible.

Option for in-house seminars

For contrastive presentation, two country focuses can be selected for in-house training (e.g. country of a company branch or culture of origin of a large customer group). Examples and prepared analyses are then used for in-depth discussion of cultural specifics with which participants are particularly often confronted.

Offer competent intercultural seminars for the health and care sector: Intercultural training in the health sector

The German health care system is undergoing immense structural change. In addition to demographic developments and new working time regulations, migration movements are also responsible for this. The entry of the first generation of migrants into retirement age in the area of care is an example of the upheavals that are already taking place in the health sector and will become part of everyday life in the coming years.

Intercultural and interreligious competence has become a key qualification that is essential for hospital staff, doctors and nursing staff. Whether it is when integrating specialists from abroad into the team or when communicating with patients from other cultures or other religious orientations - good interaction with clients, patients and colleagues from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds is essential for smooth collaboration in culturally diverse everyday working life. For this, intercultural trainers (m/f/d) are needed who design and conduct training courses specifically for the healthcare sector. Introduction to the basics of intercultural skills for the healthcare sector

We provide a broad basic knowledge of the subject of “inter- and transcultural skills in the healthcare system” for your individual work context. Culturally and religiously different views on health and illness influence thought, behavior and healing processes.

For example, the question of the attribution of causes of illnesses and the culturally determined role expectations of doctors, nursing staff and patients play an important role in the interaction.

By conveying and experiencing cultural and religious differences, you will be sensitized to dealing with people from other cultural backgrounds. The high practical relevance ensures a more effective handling of the phenomenon of culture in everyday life and enables you to analyze intercultural problems and develop solutions.

Communication in the healthcare sector - intercultural context

Communication skills are essential in everyday clinical life and in the doctor's office. The module teaches techniques such as “active listening” specifically for the intercultural context. These will make it possible to make future conversations more successful - both with German and foreign patients and employees.

Case method and intercultural conflict resolution

The case method is ideal, especially in the medical field, for analyzing (conflict) situations in everyday intercultural encounters and achieving an optimal learning effect. This is why this method of intercultural training is dealt with intensively: Using concrete examples from practice, participants learn and reflect on how, for example, conflicts from everyday clinical life can be traced back to cultural dimensions and how these skills can be passed on. Dealing with "difficult patients" is addressed and recommendations are given for multipliers, which are later used in everyday practice and during the training courses.

Requirements

The seminar teaches the essential basics specifically for intercultural communication in the healthcare industry. Therefore, no special requirements are necessary. Knowledge in the field of intercultural communication / intercultural training is welcome.

With us you will learn which intercultural and religious aspects in the health sector are important for you, your colleagues and your patients and where action is needed.

In addition to basic intercultural knowledge for the health sector and approaches to dealing with patients, colleagues and nursing students from other cultures or with culturally diverse backgrounds, the training will also give you the ability to pass on your new knowledge in your everyday work to doctors, hospital staff, (elderly) nurses, (elderly) nursing students, administrative staff, etc.

In this seminar you will receive the basics, methods and materials for independently conducting high-quality training courses or series of lessons for your work context.

Methods

The Five Cultures Game is an intensive, practice-based and theoretically based simulation of intercultural training for the area of transcultural learning.

Contents

The Five Cultures Game offers scenarios in which teams with different cultural scripts work on current tasks in which they both assert their own cultural identity and strive for common solutions.

You will learn

The Five Cultures Game is a demanding simulation in the area of transcultural communication of high complexity, which in particular conveys the following processes of intercultural and transcultural learning:

Cultural self-perception and perception of others through role-related adoption of cultural orientations and behaviors that are different from one's own dominant lifestyle

Attention and increased sensitivity to the cultural orientations of other people

Insights into the influence of cultural options on decision-making and problem-solving

Awareness of "transcultural connection potentials", i.e. ways of finding approaches to dealing with the cultural orientations of others in one's own cultural orientations

Strategic handling of one's own and other people's lifestyles and communication styles, with the aim of finding common solutions to problems, and

Strategic handling of culture-specific conflicts

Methods

In the Five Cultures Game, participants learn, as part of a complex simulation, to deal sensitively with the cultural characteristics of others and to develop strategies for dealing with other people's lifestyles and communication styles. The 10-18 participants form five groups. Each of the five groups represents a culture (a "lifestyle") according to a detailed description (the role card). After each group has familiarized itself with "its" culture, it is confronted with an important event that brings it into contact with the other cultures. It is about a common problem for which the individual groups first develop culture-specific solutions. Based on these suggestions, an attempt is made to reach a common solution through dialogue. The basis for the Five Cultures Game is the cultural theory of Michael Thompson et al. (1990).

Participants

The Five Cultures Game is suitable for people who deal with intercultural issues in their professional field or who (want to) work in (already existing) intercultural teams and want to prepare intensively for intercultural negotiations. The Five Cultures Game is suitable for people who work in international teams as well as for outgoings, incomings, students as well as school and youth groups who need to be prepared for intercultural encounters. If you are an intercultural trainer looking for games for your intercultural training, then you have come to the right place. Furthermore, the Five Cultures Game can be used anywhere where people need to be prepared in a playful but intensive and sustainable way for contact with people of different cultural backgrounds or where the topic of transcultural learning is touched upon.

Internationality and global cooperation: intercultural competence for managers and project managers

In today's work situations, people with diverse backgrounds come together - cultural diversity in teams is everyday life in almost all areas. At the same time, companies and organizations operate worldwide, send specialists and managers and interact internationally at all levels. Managers and project managers in particular need intercultural competence in order to adequately meet their disciplinary and technical management tasks.

Our training conveys awareness of one's own culture-related influences (self-assessment) and the diversity of cultures. Central action competencies such as variety in communication strategy or openness to negotiation styles that are more person-oriented than matter-oriented are trained. The intercultural competence training uncovers initially invisible habits that disrupt cooperation and shows how essential knowledge of foreign cultural orientation systems is. It is the basis for any international, transcultural cooperation that is to be successful in the long term.

Stereotyping and the long-term, unhelpful teaching of dos and don'ts have no place in our training courses - because only through basic transcultural skills is future-oriented, stable, functioning international cooperation possible.
